Jeep Rubicon, Noise is most commonly due to an uneven or irregular wear pattern that has developed on the tires. We suggest that you have the tires inspected by a participating tire retailer in your area. Upon inspection, you are welcomed to contact us at 866-866-6605 8am-5pm EST Mon-Fri

Good tires with a couple let downs.

The off road capability on rocks, mud, sand, gravel, is superb and they are very durable at least in my experience. They are not too heavy when compared to competitors and the noise is very tolerable even with a soft top Jeep. The price is very fair. And despite being mud tires, as long as they are rotated frequently, they wear very evenly. And they look fantastic. HOWEVER! they are not very good in snow. I am a very skilled driver and it is safe to say that more than half of the people who buy these tires will have trouble if they encounter snow. When it rains on a paved road, these almost feel like driving a race car on slicks in the wet. They constantly slip and slide. But the worst thing for me and ultimately the deal breaker is the braking performance. It is ATROCIOUS! Even on a warm dry day on a perfect surface, my 6000 pound Range Rover will stop faster on its snow tires then my 4000 pound Jeep on these KM3's It is important to note, on the trail, these tires will stop faster than any other tire! (as long as it's not snowing). But they are terrible on pavement. If I lived on dirt/gravel or a farm, I would stay with these. But I live in Southern California where we have L.A. traffic and terrible drivers, braking is important. 3 stars, although I am very aware that mud tires do not do well on the road, I did not expect them to be so horrible in rain and under braking esspecially for the quality and the slighlty above average price. And the snow performance was quite dissapointing.

Bring back the KM2s

I purchased a set of these tires because the KM2s were discontinued. They are a complete downgrade from the KM2s. The rubber is a harder rubber so I feel more bumps on the road and they are not as sticky on the rocks. They slip a lot. Much worse in the snow than the Km2s as well. Tread pattern has shifted more towards an all terrain performance rather than a Krawler performance/tread design which is what the KM2 customers loved. Wish BFG still made the KM2s. Unless they start making them again, they have lost a 15 year return customer and I'll have to look for another tire brand next round.

I recommend this tire

KM3 285/70/17 Toyota 4Runner

Replaced my BFG KO2s with these KM3 3 years ago and I could not be happier with the performance & look of these tires. The on road and off-road performance has been outstanding. With just shy of 40,000 miles I still have 10/32 out of 18/32 left on the tread, all 4 tired have worn perfectly but I do check PSI monthly plus rotate and balance every 5000 miles.I run these on my modified 4Runner with a good amount of extra weight on it and at 75 mph the noise decibel is just under 70 which isn’t bad considering all of the extra accessories I have on my rig. Without question I will be buying  these tires again!

Not what they are hyped to be

I bought a set of the km3 and was excited . Ive always been a BFG fan ever sense the bfg km mt . Then the km2 came out and they worked amazing on road and off road and got lots of millage out of them and sore by if you wanted a radial mt tire the bfg km2 was the best for all purpose . Then when the km3 came out i got a set and honestly i was crushed by the performance . Sure highway road stuff they where fine . And gravel roads . But life span was stupid short and off road performance sucked . Mud not good . Slick stuff like clay and mushy snow not good . Sure in moderate rocks they worked but then a again a bald tire works for that as well . Needless to say i was disappointed in the km3 . My km2 i got 66,000 miles out of and the km3 i got maybe 20,000 out of them . These where both ran on the same truck . Ive also ran them on other trucks in my fleet as well ( personal fleet ) bring back the km2 and ill by them for every thing i own again also would be nice to get 39 kx back in blue label best rock tire the every day weekend warrior

I recommend this tire

Over 5 years and 40k+ miles!!!!

Bought a set of the KM3s when they first came out. I had the first Land Rover Discovery 2 on KM3s in the USA. 5 1/2 years and 40k miles of wheeling from the swamps of Florida and everywhere else on the East Coast, they are ready to be replaced. No dry rotting, plenty of tread left, they have just worn a little funny (to be expected in a mud tire) and have gotten quite noisy. What am I replacing then with??? KM3s of course!!!! Best tire I've ever owned!!!

No where near as tall as advertised

My issue is the size. Off the jeep, mounted on a rim at 33 psi, the 33x10.50r15 tires I paid $2k to get 5 tires to get on my jeep, are 31.8 inches tall. I just replaced 33 inch tires and now my jeep looks like it's on 32s. I parked next to a stock rubicon on 285/70r17 Ko2's and they are an inch smaller. I did a heads up comparison with brand new 33s off my cj5, both on rims at the same 33psi, neither bolted to the jeep. The cj5 tire spec sheet sais 32.6 inches tall, it's exactly 32.6. The bfg said 32.5, it's 31.8! I hate looking at my jeep now. Bfg customer service is loaded with excuses, they said the spec sheet number is what they were "aiming" for. And it could be off by up to half an inch and that's fine. Why call it a 33?? Just say it's a 32 and then this doesn't happen. Now I have to find a dealer with a calibrated measuring tool which so far nobody has heard of. Then after verifying the problem bfg MIGHT give me a partial credit towards another set of bfgs I must use in 60 days. Very generous. I just want my money-back but apparently they don't care on the km3. Such a regret.

Chunking

Had km2 previously on 13 jk and was totally impressed and lasted 50k So when I got new tires, after reading all the sales info, I decided to buy Km3 (37x12.5x17) After approximately 10 k I noticed that they were chunking severely Took jeep in to Discount Tire (my regular tire store) to see if they could do some warranty or adjustment. They said since the new tread climbed better that Goodrich had to make the compound softer. Too bad sorry can’t do anything except sell me new tires at a tiny discount. I’d much rather have more durable tires than 8% better dry rock climbing ability. Sorry Goodrich, I’ll be buying Toyos next time, for both Jeeps, my wrx and my wife’s Porsche Cayman

Bucklives, while we're sorry to read of your complaint. Discount Tires is authorized to administer the warranty on tires they sell. BFGoodrich has not been notified of this issue. A member of our team will be in touch to get more details of the condition of your tires.

Good but not great!

I’ve purchased BFG’s for several trucks and a Jeep. I purchased KM3’s for my current vehicle a Ram Power Wagon 6 months ago and put 1k miles on them. Took it to Lytle creek, Big Bear and Calico. They handle good on and off road. Calico destroyed them! I’m now missing tread, the sharp rocks literally ripped the entire lugs off. Needless to say, I will never go back to Calico and I probably won’t buy KM3’s for my PW either since it’s too heavy and the KM3’s are too soft. CJC warned me, why didn’t I listen…
